A snake that ate a chained dog

I started young. From catching the frogs which entered our house during monsoons, to catching grasshoppers, dragonflies, fishes, and lizards, I did not waste any time and watched the national geographic channel like a madman. Austin steven most dangerous is still my favorite tv show. Hope I spelled it right.

From general knowledge to targeted research, I fell in love with snakes and snake rescuers. I watched more of National Geographic Channel and read a few small books which dealt with the identification of snakes. Google too was an intimate friend. After getting well versed with the theory, and with videos and tv shows as my guides, I began my hunt for all the common species of snakes in my locality. Facebook helped me reach quite a few people as I had named my profile The Snakefreak. Initially, it was the snakeman but just under 2 years, the name snakefreak became a hit.

I started getting rescue calls during my high school days and it continues to date. 40 to 50 calls a year is common.

What started as a self-help kind of project, is helping a lot of snakes and humans. I never had any intention of attending rescue calls. But since I am passionate about handling snakes, why not help people on the go.

Social service should be a side venture. We have our life which is important and there is a social service part that is not mandatory yet essential for the overall peace of mind.

There is this one story I need to share whose title always gives me chills. Since this is my first-hand experience.

So here goes.

‘The snake which ate a chained dog’

I want you to imagine this story all by yourself. Close your eyes and just imagine.  Isn’t this chilling?

We are all chained dogs. Chained to our duties. Snake being our insecurities, fear, negativity, anxiety, and whatnot. Nobody is born free from the chains of attachments. Nobody should die chained. Don’t let the snake kill you while you are chained. There is nothing you can do. Grow so much in life that no chain holds you and a free dog can’t be killed so easily by any snake.

Build yourself to build the nation.   –Swami Vivekananda

We the youth of India shall make a difference.

Stay young, be kind.

Thank you for your time.

A genuine ,positive article ! Showing the youth that there is more to life than phones . Your article is positive and motivating . I wish you would have talked about the chained dog a little more .

    1. the chained dog was killed by the snake however, the snake couldn’t swallow it as it was chained. the snake tried its best and swallowed the dog with the chain and ended up biting the pole to which the dog was chained. when I went there to rescue, the snake was biting the pole. it was amusing to me and I couldnt figure out the reason for this behavior. finally after gently tapping the body, the snake regurgitated the dead dog and broke free. I collected the snake, neighbors buried the dog and we all became a part of this memorable wonder.

The journey of life may not become easier as we grow older, but we do seem to understand it better as our perspectives evolve. Right from childhood, the school, parents, elders give suggestions like we should be strong, should have a goal in life, hardworking, dedicated, focused etc. Many instances that are happening today raise a question in our mind that why today’s youth are not able to cope with problems?
